I've been tagged by SWP in another meme that's circulating. So here goes...

What I was doing 10 years ago -- In July of 1995, I was in the middle of my Clinical Pastoral Education at Regions Hospital in Saint Paul, MN, as part of my formation for diocesan priesthood.

5 years ago -- In July of 2000, I was still getting acclimated to my new job as webmaster, computer trainer, and technical gopher at PROSOURCE Educational Services in Saint Paul, MN.

1 year ago -- Last July, I moved from renting a room in Studio City, CA, into an apartment in Valley Village with a couple of my Act One (Chicago '02) classmates.

Yesterday -- I went hiking in the Santa Monica mountains, then came back home to read the LA Times and The Tidings. My roommate threatens that he's not going to let me bring The Tidings into the apartment in the future, seeing as it is basically theological porn... full of sentimentality and half-truths. I guess that means I'll spend Sundays in the library, indulging this guilty pleasure. I'm fascinated by a newspaper that can get it so wrong week after week, with utter faithfulness to the powers that be. Later on, I downloaded U2's album Achtung Baby into my iTunes. So I'll probably spend all day today singing Mysterious Ways...

(And 35 years ago today... was the eve of my baptism at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Excelsior, MN. It was an honest-to-goodness post-Vatican II liturgy... at least that is what I surmise from the audio recording, Super8 film reels, script, baptism cards, and burlap banners my parents later passed along to me.... Older brothers and sisters reading poetry, the associate pastor strumming the guitar, etc. Nothing like entering the Church during the Age of Aquarius... More on that tomorrow.)
